Buongiorno a tutti,
Vi ringrazio e ringrazio la Fondazione Bullone per l’invito a questo primo InVisibile Festival.
Il titolo di questi tre giorni di incontri mi ha ricordato un brano di quel grande romanzo di formazione che è Il giovane Holden, quando il protagonista osserva che la gente non si accorge mai di niente. Questo senso di invisibilità, di solitudine, di fragilità tra i più giovani e vulnerabili, ma non solo, lo stiamo riscoprendo in questi anni.
Fragilità e incertezza: sono queste le parole chiave del tempo che stiamo vivendo e che ritroviamo in tutti gli scenari. La fragilità che abbiamo vissuto con la pandemia, e la solitudine che la pandemia ha messo in luce in tante nostre città, in tanti nostri quartieri, in tante nostre famiglie. La fragilità per l’immane sfida del clima, la fragilità di un continente che vede riaffacciarsi la guerra dopo aver vissuto in pace per oltre settant’anni. La fragilità di un modello di democrazia che in diverse parti del mondo, ma anche in alcuni paesi Europei registra dei passi indietro. E l’incertezza sul futuro.
Occasioni di incontro come questa, iniziative come il lancio della testata Bullone.EU sono forse un antidoto per far fronte a questa situazione di incertezza e di fragilità. Un invito a riscoprire i valori del dialogo, della comunità, della solidarietà. E questo, in fondo, è anche il senso dell’Europa. Un’Europa che non deve essere solo un recinto di regole fatte bene, ma l’Europa come luogo di un nuovo «umanesimo» come ci disse nel 2017 Papa Francesco nell’occasione dei 60 anni dei trattati di Roma, quelli che fecero nascere l’Unione Europea. I pilastri di questa ambizione europea li abbiamo chiari: un’Europa in prima linea nella sfida climatica, un’Europa che mette al centro la dimensione sociale, rafforza i diritti, tutela i più deboli. Un’Europa che guarda al futuro e alle nuove generazioni con un programma senza precedenti come Next Generation EU.
A voi, a noi il compito di costruirla insieme quest’Europa.

Good morning to you all,
I thank you and I thank the Bullone Foundation for the invitation to this first “InVisibile” festival.
The title of these three days of meetings reminded me of a piece of that great formative novel that is “The Catcher in the Rye” where the protagonist observes that people never notice anything. This sense of invisibility, of loneliness, of fragility amongst the youngest and most vulnerable, but not only. We are rediscovering it in these years: fragility and uncertainty.
These are the key words of the time that we are living and that we find in all scenarios. The fragility that we have experienced with the pandemic, and the loneliness that the pandemic has highlighted in so many of our cities, in so many of our neighbourhoods, in so many of our families. The fragility of the immense challenge of the climate, the fragility of a continent that sees war resurface after having lived in peace for over seventy years. The fragility of a model of democracy which in different parts of the world, but also in some European countries, is taking a step backwards. And uncertainty regarding the future.
Opportunities like this, initiatives like the launch of the Bullone.EU magazine are perhaps an antidote to this situation of uncertainty and fragility. An invitation to rediscover the values of dialogue, of community, of solidarity. And this, after all, is also the meaning of Europe. A Europe that must not only be a fence of well-made rules, but Europe as a place of a new “humanism” as Pope Francis told us in 2017 on the occasion of the 60 years of the Treaties of Rome, those that gave birth to the European Union.
The pillars of this European ambition are clear to us: a Europe at the forefront of the climate challenge, a Europe that puts the social dimension at the centre, strengthens rights and protects the weakest. A Europe that looks to the future and to the new generations with an unprecedented program like Next Generation EU.
To you, to us the task: this Europe to build it together.
